About soft decoration
As the decoration turned out to be as good as we expected, we began to have higher hope for the final look of our home. At that moment, the soft decoration of the living room become a critical thing. Especially we couldn't decide on TV cabinet and coffee table. They never looked right.
They had to match with the sofa, the wall and floor. The dimension of the TV cabinet should accommodate to that of the TV wall. The shouldn't make the space too full. Most importantly, they should be good-looking, artful and cost-effective as well. That's how we finally chose the TV cabinet and coffee table of Shell Series.
About space
The design director mentioned the word "breathing", in his first proposal. What he meant was that the permeability and fluidity in design and space can make people relax and calm, which is especially precious in the depressing urban life.
The sense of breathing is reflected in the details of the product, such as the floating base, the R-shaped arc at all edges, the visual transition zone in walnut color, and the appropriate volume. All of these characteristics are conceived in continuous pursuit of perfection.
A large amount of time and efforts were invested since the phase of design. There have been 16 design proposals and 8 rounds of internal jury since March before the product finally came into being.
About materials
It has always been our original intention to choose right materials for each product. For TV cabinets and coffee tables, the materials choices are limited to solid wood, veneer, plywood, slate, marble, glass. And material is a key element that affects price.
To combine aesthetics, functionality and affordability for young people, we took a bold approach by combining different materials, giving walnut and marble patterns to plywood.
We made more efforts in its appearance. The design and product team even spent 20 days in selecting colors of walnut pattern and 30 days for marble pattern. Especially the black marble, there were very few on the market that fit the design. The team searched every corner of the market and could not find any satisfactory one. At last, we decided to customize the color. Although it was difficult, we finally made it. Both the texture and appearance of the product were satisfactory, beyond our expectation.
In configuration
In the interaction between the product and the living room, walnut represents a visual transition as it is a natural division of the entire space. Therefore, in any living room, the Shell series TV cabinet and coffee table look natural and comfortable.
Products in natural colors have personality. Walnut represents restrain, while marble is extravagant. In one space, the two colors with distinctive personalities are neutralized.
